Robbie Garrett Posted November 27 Posted November 27 Hi All, Has anyone looked at the 15th Gen Intel CPUs released recently and if so what's the build plan and what new goodies will you include such as using PCIE 5.0 bandwith? 1 Quote
Peter Fabian Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Incremental improvements over my i5-13gen in the same category... a bit extra PCIe is nice but at this time, or any soon I think, nowhere near enough fast HW downstream to take advantage. I'm more wondering what the introduction of NVidia 50 series cards will do to the pricing, as 40 series is stubbornly refusing to go down... Quote
Ray Proudfoot Posted November 29 Posted November 29 The biggest improvement you can make is to install Steam’s Lossless Generation program. Eight quid and the improvement is ground breaking. 1 Quote

Peter Fabian Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I see it's on sale in Steam right now, but I am skeptical of how it can be notionally so much better than nVidia DLSS frame gen. Quote

I’ve not tried that. But if I tell you I can get 60fps with Concorde at Simwings Heathrow with 250+ Ai AIG aircraft perhaps that will help. It’s eight quid. Cost of a pint in London. Quote

So like a pint of basic beer or half pint a real good one. Though what you mention makes it worth to look into... cause P3D of course doesn't support DLSS natively. Quote
Ray Proudfoot Posted November 30 Posted November 30 @Peter Fabian, it will be the best €5 you’ve ever spent. It works with all games apparently. Quote

I was looking at the Core Ultra 9 285K, although I think Arrow-Lake may have a better release in Q1 2025 along with an RTX 5090 for a GEN 5 PC. I am waiting to see what the technology does as I also edit YouTube videos in 4K, so need something that fits. Quote
Peter Fabian Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Well, I mean, as soon as you bring proffessional level work into it, it changes the calculus completely. Quote
Owen Smoot Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Ray, what settings do you use with Lossless? I've tried it but not sure I'm using it right. Quote
Stein-Ove Rud Posted December 2 Posted December 2 What have Lossless Scaling to do with Intel 15th gen CPU's? Maybe take that discussion to a own thread instead of hijacking this thread ? Quote

Because with it running it may not be necessary to buy a faster CPU. 1 Quote

You don't list your kit in your sig so it's hard to advise. I've dropped my refresh rate down to 20Hz (20fps with VSync enabled) which has resulted in more power for extra settings. I can now set AIG Ai to 100% resulting in over 300 Ai in the 80nm bubble at EGLL. With a x3 acceleration I now see 60fps instead of 30 previously resulting in totally smooth ground and road traffic plus panning around the flight deck. Yes, there are some visual imperfections but for me the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. Quote
