The A321 CFM56 ECU has a programming plug, can someone please explain?

Featured Replies

So the FADEC system of the CFM for the busses (ECU), has a programming plug attached to it, can someone please explain what it is? I heard it contains software for the ECU to function but what exactly is in the software and what materials is the plug made out of?

Is the plug like a USB that is connected to a computer that can program it before being inserted into the ECU?

Questions like these are what make me appreciate the bus more

If it's anything like what I work with it'll simply be a (probably very slow) serial(!) port of some description. Serial is preferred for such things because you put A in one end and get A out of the other end.
