What is this Road Map please?

Dave,

Before the advent of GPS in cars we used to all use (AA!) road maps.  From those you could determine how you were getting from your house to wherever you were going.

In today's terms it refers to where we are now and what to expect along the planned journey.

That's right only the "English" speak English!!

Some of us older folk still use a map for initial planning. I use satnav only for the final mile. A bit off-topic, sorry.

If it’s necessary to explain a saying it’s probably not obvious what it means. A “plan” is simple and gets the message across.
