January 1, 197056 yr I have a couple of issues. 1. When turning the knob on the MCP, the numbers skip randomly and then back. It's hard to get the exact heading I want to select. 2. When I change any of the numbers, they show up correctly in the cockpit. However, they do not show up on my networked avionics from Ellie Systems. The numbers are all zeros. Any fix for this? 3. The vertical speed field on the MCP is blank. No numbers show up. Thoughts?
January 1, 197056 yr Hello Steve- 1) This is due to the way the PMDG aircraft are coded, together with how GoFlight's SDK works. We understand the issue, but there's no real way around it. 2) I am not sure what Ellie Systems' avionics module does, where it gets its numbers from, or else. If the PMDG aircraft displays numbers properly, you'll agree the driver works properly, no? 3) Are you in V/S mode when this happens? In various modes (VNAV and LVL CHG for example) this is correct behavior. Best regards,
January 1, 197056 yr Author We have a cockpit that uses the GoFlight modules. However, not being able to see the information displayed on our avionics screens is a big problem. We don't switch to view the cockpit in FSX. The display from our projectors is only the outside view---just like you would see from an actual plane. We use 2-15" displays for our PFD, ND and Standby gauges. Can you check to see if there is any way to get my information to display there?
January 1, 197056 yr Hi Steve- some more information would be appreciated please... Who is "We" who have this cockpit? (apologies if I should know this already). Also- the way the PMDG gauges work, they NEED to be visible (even tiny - resized to 2x2 or something) in order to work. However, with not enough information, it's quite difficult for me to answer your needs, so the more you share, the easier it will be.
January 1, 197056 yr Author The "we" is just me and my son. Which gauges need to be visible? I have always flown with just an outside view. It doesn't look real to have the cockpit gauges close and then another set projected through the windscreen. If you have a home cockpit the goal is to use only the switches and gauges inside the cockpit. That's why we have the GoFlight, Engravity, Ellie Systems, etc., to give a more realistic experience. I really don't want to use "fake" gauges through the window!
January 1, 197056 yr Steve- I understand what you are saying, but still fail to see where your problem lies, mainly. If you're asking us why Ellie Systems gauges are unsupported, I am afraid I have no answer there - our driver works directly with the PMDG products and that's all we can support at the moment with it... Can you try to please allow the main panel gauges to show, and make them tiny? (i.e. a very small window, that will be almost invisible) and test to see if that works? Thanks,
January 1, 197056 yr Author We'll try that. Also, I just saw that I have firmware A18 (should be A22) on the MCP. I have John at GoFlight sending the latest version.
January 1, 197056 yr Author Still no luck. I updated to A22. When I get to 10,100 feet, the altitude does appear as "100" on screen in the glass cockpit. It's 10,000 off! The speed never appears. When I set vertical speed to--for example--1700, it shows in the PMDG virtual cockpit correctly. However it may show 5700 or 700 on the GoFlight module or sometimes not at all.
January 1, 197056 yr Steve- unfortunately, you're giving me very few details on the problem at hand - can you PLEASE take some screenshots and attach a detailed description (a one-liner is really hard to decipher on what exactly is going on). I'll need: 1) Version of your PMDG 747-400X - are you uptodate? 2) Screenshot of the problem, when it occurs 3) Description of action that led the issue there. 4) History of activity (i.e. "I armed LNAV and VNAV after entering bladibla in the MCP, pressed AT To/Ga screw, rotated, then clicked V/S") Whatever else you can think of that will help me, as detailed as possible. I am really left guessing here on what you're doing...
