SOLUTION:

You need to run fsx.exe as administrator:

1. Right click on your fsx.exe click on properties.

2 In the compatibility tab , you need to check the run as administratoir field at the bottom of the page.

3 Apply the change

4. Run fsx as usual

 

OP:

I just installed Spotlights in anticipation of the a320 release but there seems to be a problem.

I installed with administrative rights.

In the manager the lamps field is grayed out and the preview on the free flight page in fsx in black.

In fsx nothing is showing but the terrain: no airport or runway, no virtual cockpit and no external model. For all the aircrafts at LGAV or any other airport

 

 

 

Can you please clear your shader cache to see if that works?

Also  I installed steve fx DX10 fixer yesterday. and reapplied the changes to the light effects after installing spotlights.

Reapplying the lights / effects in DX10 fixer is only required after installing the A320-X, not the Spotlights :).

@Lefteris Kalamaras that didn't change anything.

 

Did you delete both Shaders and Shaders10 folders? DX10 uses the latter.

I only had a shader10 folder

Uninstall the Spotlights, then delete the shader cache again and see if that brings it back - if it does, we can discuss.

Uninstalled spotlights,

now the C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\ is empty

ok I went back to DX9 and the shaders folder reappeared

You can try to reinstall Spotlights now and let me know how that goes.

I installled the version 1.0.21 if thats of any importance

Try one of these following solutions:

1) update your DX10Fixer if it's older than 2.11

2) Switch to DX9 temporarily and see if that works

3) Are you running any extra graphics-related add-ons? ReShade or something similar?

spotlights broke fsx with both dx9 and dx10

I don't have reshade. only installed aerosoft airbus and 2 or 3 airports scenery.

In my dll.xml I have something called vistamare, not sure what it does. Also something called visual effects tool apparently from fsx SDK wich is strange because I've never installed a SDK on my computer.

Clear your shader cache, then try a reboot, before loading FSX.

Did that, still the same problem

well, I tried uninstalling spotlights, dx10 fixer, reverting to dx9,going back to dx10, installing spotlights without dx10 fixer, nothing worked.

I'm out of ideas

@Lefteris Kalamaras I solved it, My fsx.exe wasn't running as administrator. I went into properties checked the 'run as administrator field' applied the changes and voila.

Perfectly running spotlights.

Thanks for the time yout took to help me even though a big day is coming tomorrow. I'll update the first post in case someone else get the same problem.
