Cannot Start P3D When SpotLights Installed.

Hi,

After installing the latest version of SpotLights, I am unable to start P3D:

When attempting to start P3D, I get an error message stating "Cannot access this file, you may not have permission..." or words to that effect.

After uninstalling SpotLights, P3D starts as normal.

If you go to the specified folder can you access it without any Windows prompts?

Many add-on developers advised against installation of Prepar3D in Program Files.

No, get the same problem.

Move it out of Program Files. W10 is very strict with the Program File folder.

Okay, I'll give that a try...

Uninstalled everything, then reinstalled everything without using 'Program Files'. Same result, please see screenshot:

Where is it now? Anything else besides P3D and Spotlights installed?

What spotlights version?

P3D now installed here:

F:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Prepar3D.exe

SpotLights version: 1.0.0.33

Nothing else installed on that partition, just P3D + A320 + SpotLights. Just uninstalled SpotLights & now P3D & the A320 work fine again.

Do I really need SpotLights for the A320 to work? Can I just do without it?

Do you have several Windows installs on your computer?

Negative, just the one install, although there are three partitions.

A320 will work without Spotlights, however, some of the lighting is going to be missing.

I think there might be an issue with your Windows and permissions.

Okay, thanks, I might just have to live without it.

No issues with any other programs.

Thanks for your help.

It might be an easy fix however. You could take ownership of the P3D folder and set the ntfs permissions to full for your user. Need to do it recursively for files and folder, and of course turn off inheritance. Usually that fixes all permission problems. FSL also installs some stuff into program files, so that might also be an issue, but doing above should also fix it.

Tried that, with limited success: I can launch P3D one time, by right clicking & selecting "Run as administrator. However subsequent attempts to launch P3D result in the original problem & error message: Grrr!

RC on prepar3d.exe, Properties, Compatibility, Change settings for all users, check Run this program as an administrator.

Done that, doesn't resolve it. Thanks anyway.
