How do I select a heading

I am unable to select a heading. Only heading hold. Could you please explain how this is accomplished?

I believe that on the 747 MCP you push in the heading button. This cannot be done with the CP flight 737MCP.

    It can be done with the CWS L button (if I am not mistaken - otherwise it's the CWS R button).
