Been Trying to fix FSX (boxed) for 3 days now I have the launch screen but the task manager has FSX at 0% CPU I did the whole Logbook.bin, FSX.cfg still no joy I also reinstalled FSX numerous times, Everything Works Fine UNTIL I install SP2 Then This Problem happens. Any Help is Greatly appreciated! And Just In case anyone is wondering I have Win10 64bit. Problem looks much like this except the only way to get out is task manager .

I Tried on  Steam Edition too same result as with SP2

Did you reboot between SP installs?

That is the recommened procedure.

Also ensure you are running as ADMIN.

Where is your FSX located? It should be installed outside of the program files area, eg: C:\FSX or C:\Games\FSX.

Make sure that windows defender allows this to run and it is is not blocking FSX.exe

@ConcordeIsCool - Since you've tried installing FSX and FSX-SE it looks like it is completely corrupted.

Try the following -

1. Completely uninstall FSX and FSX-SE

2. Manually delete all of the FSX / FSX-SE folders, including those in C:\Users\PC Name\AppData\Roaming

3. Reboot the PC

4. Download this registry tool - https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/18872/fsx-tweakfs-registry-utility-v121/

5. Run it and delete any FSX / FSX-SE entries

6. Reboot

DO NOT install FSX and FSX-SE.  If you chose to install FSX then go to step 8 (and DO NOT run step 7)  If you want to install FSX-SE go to step 7

7. Install FSX-SE - but DO NOT install in the path - C:\Program Files (x86)

8. For FSX only installation - http://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html

FIXED:

The Problem lay NOT in FSX but in my NIVIDA GTX 970s power options

sometimes the Display Driver will crash because the card tries to draw more power from the PSU but something goes wrong and its usage spikes and causes a driver crash. This can be fixed by going to Control Panel>System and Security>Power Options> Change Plan Settings>Change advanced power settings> Find PCI Express > Link Power State Management > and set to OFF.

This Fixed it for me!

So I SERIOUSLY URGE the admins remember my pain and suffering and put this down as a quick fix/check!
