Ray Proudfoot
Yesterday I flew EGLL-GCTS in Concorde. From throttles forward to wheels down the flight took 1hr 59m. This included a 50nm segment flown at FL350 / Mach 0.95 to avoid laying a sonic boom over the north of the island. Approach was via the west of Tenerife landing on 07. Anyone who’s flown there in real life will know it takes around 3hr 40m. Anyone interested in flying this route? If so, I’ll supply the plan. Can you beat 1h 59m? 2 Quote Link to comment
Alex Lund
I am waiting for the new Concorde but I will be interested about flying these different routes. I think it will be my primary aircraft after learning it. Will be my ride also for the sort flights in europe. Quote Link to comment
Ray Proudfoot
Alex, have you uninstalled FSX? I went to our monthly flight sim meeting on Saturday and a friend had the Colimata Concorde for XP. The FE panel looked decent but lacked full functionality and the VC was reasonable but what let it down was the lateral porpoising even when there was less than 25° bank. Disappointing. I enjoy creating my own routes. I fly the length of the Med in one from LLBG to LEMG. Continuous climb all the way with land visible all the flight once Crete is in sight. Quote Link to comment
Andrew Wilson
We’ve been flying this one quite a lot during testing. We refer to it as a mini-Barbados run It’s a great little route. 4 Quote Link to comment

In 1983 I climbed to the summit so it has fond memories for me. Did you time the flight? Did you or anyone beat my time? Quote Link to comment

Ray Proudfoot
Flying the return is even faster. Aided by a low pressure in the eastern Atlantic with southerly winds for the majority of the flight. 1h 51m. Max altitude 58,500ft. Quote Link to comment
Michele Benedetti
Once the new Concorde X releases this is one of the very first routes that I'm doing with it. Quote Link to comment

No but I can not install FSX because I have not disk drive in my computer. That's why I am no more able to use FSX. When I had my old computer, I had P3D and FSX at the same time. With FSX I flew MD-11 etc old aircraft. Never learned to fly concorde. But When the new one comes out, It will become my primary aircraft. Ray, can you test, how long it takes From Helsinki to Kittilä (EFKT) with concorde, subsonic? Quote Link to comment

Sorry Alex but I’m not really interested in flying Concorde subsonic. Just slightly quicker than a 737 I imagine. Mach 0.95 versus Mach 0.79. Quote Link to comment

Roughly 85% of the time it would take a standard subsonic aircraft but using more than double the fuel! Unlike when she was supersonic the winds had a similar effect as normal aircraft but she was normally a bit more than 100kts faster (ground speed). 1 Quote Link to comment
Rado Sutto
I routinely flew EGLL - LPMA with OpenSource Concorde in FGFS simulator. Very nice flight and really difficult landing to rwy 05. Quote Link to comment
