A380?

I've been watching a lot of A380 videos and there is considerable similarity between the A320 and A380 at a systems level ... after the Concord is done, any chance you'll evolve the A320 to a A380?

Cheers, Rob.

Well, I'm not pushing but just think about the prestige of having an A380 in your lineup.

I mean, good luck trying to match that, pmdg

Why the heck is my photo pink???

everyone would!

Not everyone. Us Concorde owners are patiently waiting for a 64-bit version of our aircraft. The A380 may be huge and sophisticated but Concorde can overtake it at 750mph. :D

You wouldn’t want a FSL “A380?”, it would be the best addon ever!  I’ve always wanted a study level A380.

No thanks. It is a really ugly aircraft. Believe the ladies when they say size really doesn’t matter. ;) Why drive a Ford when you could have a Ferrari? :D

I like both aircraft so whichever comes first is fine with me ... but from a development aspect, the A380 does have many of the same systems as in the A320 so should provide for less Lira investment with better graphics and code re-use vs. a 64bit Concorde which would have limited salvage from it's original 32bit version.

I don't know the percent of work split for 3D modelling vs. system implementation.  I'm assuming both aircraft would be aimed at P3D V4.x exclusively as I can't see either one surviving for long (aka OOM) in 32bit environment.

The Concorde would certainly be more of a challenge to fly while the A380 would present some interesting docking and size adjustments ... wonder if GSX has any support for A380 out of the box or for a Concorde.  Both aircraft are somewhat iconic ... largest commercial and fastest commercial.

I think the biggest challenge for FSL crew is that they've set the bar very high with the A320 that it might be difficult to do a "lite" version of either A380 or Concorde.  Anyway, I'd happily pay for either or both whenever they become available.

Fortunately in the virtual world we don't have to worry about ECO as the Concorde from LHR to JFK consumed about 80,000-85,000 kgs of fuel, compared to 747-400 at 65,500 kgs, and the 777-200 at 40,000 kgs ... looking at fuel per seat values:

A380 - 74 MPG (3.16L/100km)
A320 - 97 MPG (2.43 L/100km)
777-300ER - 81 MPG (2.91 L/100km)
747-800 - 83 MPG (2.82 L/100km)
737 MAX-7 - 121 MPG (1.94 L/100km)

But I suspect supersonic travel will be making a comeback soon ... Lockheed Martin won a $247M NASA contract to build a quieter and more fuel efficient supersonic jet that is supposed to take to the skies in 2021 ... sadly just pilot only test aircraft, commercial not expected until 2035 with it more likely that business jets will be first to return to supersonic before 2035 provided they are quiet enough to lift the ban on supersonic travel over land.

Cheers, Rob.

Back when the mysterious A3xx project was announced my money was on the A380. Big, prestigious plane without competition yet huge demand. I'd love to see a high quality model before Airbus shut's down production of the real thing.

Curious to learn more about the true nature of the FSLabs A3xx. Whatever it's going to be, it's bound to be exciting :)

Thanks for this video. I was not a huge fan of the A380 but after watching some videos on it including this one it indeed would be an amazing flightsim add-on!

Guys, Matt Davies' company Mettar Simulations is developing an A380, with the goal to make it "study level". They share constant development updates on Facebook!

Another company is also doing one but their outside model looks rather like the Aerosoft approach to the airliner.

I'd love the FSL A3XX to be an A350, but I'll also be happy with an A330 (with option to NEO?)

he's said a bit too much in the past... I'll believe it as soon as it's released, not a second earlier.

There are enough companies claiming their addons to be "study level"... and then you can't even manually enter the ZFW.

Matt has to design systems from scratch. It's going to be 2021 before he makes a release. FSLabs have a very strong foundation to build on. I'm pretty sure the A380 is going to be a b**ch to license, but truth be told, there's not 1 single competitor in that class, simulation wise. The A350 has the proven 777 to rival. My only worry is that if they do decide to simulate one, based on their current pricing scheme, it's going to cost like $300 XD

Matt also said that the 380 was developed part time while he focuses on simstall and projectfly so don't hold your breathe

There isn't a lot common between the A320 and A380. To simulate it in the same depth and detail as the A320 would require a clean start. Converting the 32 bit Concorde to 64 bits would be less design work. The aircraft wiring data and system design is the same, so even if they start the code from scratch the systems modelling and logic could be reused as a basis.

Believe me Rob, philosophies are the same but the systems and their protocols are quite different. In my opinion, developping the A380 can take as much time as for the A320X. To resume, it will be more easy and fast to develop A330/A340 from the A320 as well as to develop the A350 from the A380. I precise that I don't know anything about the FSLabs plans

Both of them, A380 and A350 would be great !! Airbus will stop production of A380 around 2021, maybe it will be possible to enjoy with it

Which date is planned for the next project of FSLabs ? The aren’t communicante on the subject
