Flightsimlabs Driver With Mcp Rs232

Recommended Posts

Goodmorning,

I'm having trouble to use your driver with my CPFlight hardware.

I'm using the PMDG 737NG in FS2004. I have the CPFlight MCP rs 232 version but it is connected by an USB dongle.

My PC has an onboard COM port and I've changed the connection by using this COM_USB dongle to try the flightsimlabs driver.

Using FS_COM from CPFlight there are no problems connecting the MCP by COM or USB dongle both ways.

I start FS2004/PMDG737NG at LGAV airport trying to connect FSLabs but no respond and of course I'm not connecting FS_COM.

My OS is Win XP. Does your FlightSimLabs driver supports my MCP rs232?

Kind regards,

Dear Leo-

did you make sure that your CPFlight MCP hardware has the latest firmware installed (v301)? Without this firmware, it will not work...

Sorry,

I've forgot to mentioned that my MCP has indeed the latest firmware 3.01.

Still if I click the FSLabs tab at LGAV nothing happens.

Leo

Dear Leo,

which COM port are you supposed to be using?

Hello Lefteris,

In device manager my USB dongle is connected by COM3.

My onboard COM port is still COM1. I think I need to change the USB dongle to COM1.

Note: Using COM3 my MCP works fine using FS_COM from CPFlight.

Kind Regards,

Leo

Leo,

you should select the COM port which allows the driver to connect to your MCP. If that's COM3, then use that. If it's COM1, use that.

Try both and let us know.

Hello Lefteris,

I was hoping, FSLabs in FS2004, should ask me which port I want to use.

But I don't see any window or box regarding this.

Note: I have undocked several windows because I've build a single seat cockpit.

Leo

Do you see the FSLabs menu, which brings up the CPFlight MCP menu item? Clicking that will open the CPFlight driver window - this has to be in FS window mode, not full screen, or the dialog window will be hidden behind others.

In there, you can select the COM port required.

Leo,

make sure that:

1) You have the 737NG 800/900 version with latest updates (the driver does not work with the older 600/700 product).

2) You are running in FS Windowed mode, not Full Screen.

Hello Lefteris,

Finally I found the FSLabs window. I found out it was placed on the right side of the monitor.

My single seat cockpit is connected by a TripleHead2Go.

The right port does not have a monitor, so I had to drag the FSLabs window blind to my EICAS window.

I've made some test flight around LGAV and your driver works better then FS_COM.

My selector switch on my XPDR is working and my sixpack is functioning as well!!! Very good work!!!

I do have some additional questions:

1. I need an USB Lock key for my rs232 MCP. Can you provide this Lock Key? Could you explain why I need this?

2. I've connected a MIP737 board from CPFlight to my MCP.

The annunciator light SPEEDBRAKE ARMED, SPEEDBRAKE DO NOT ARM and STAB OUT OF TRIM are always lighted up.

The other annunciators lights on my MIP are not functioning. Does this change when I buy a license for this driver?

Note: I have both versions of the PMDG B737NG, the B737-600/700 and B737-800/900.

Please let me know.

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

Leo

Leo-

for all that information, please write a note in the CPFlight forum, they will provide you with the USB dongle.

Goodmorning Lefteris,

These last days Paolo of CPFlight helped me providing me an USB lock key file in order to use my rs232 MCP with your driver.

I would like to mention that the support of CPFlight is outstanding, note I've bought my CPFlight parts mostly used.

So, my rs232 MCP is connected to a USB-COM dongle and working.

I've upgraded my MCP with firmware to release 303 and Paolo delivered me a serial key file.

Still I've one more question before I buy your driver.

At LGAV, not all annunciators are working on my MIP.

From my CPFlight MIP737board the annunciator lights SPEEDBRAKE ARMED, SPEEDBRAKE DO NOT ARM and STAB OUT OF TRIM are always lighted up.

Will this change when I buy your product?

Please let me know.

Kind Regards,

Leo de Bruin
