    SP1 question

When the new release is out, will we have the option to load the plane straight from the menu without having to load the piper first and shut the engines? It would be nice to be able to do that and to pick either cold/dark or turn around state. Thanks !

    Strange Issue in P3d

I've been having an issue lately in P3D. I am not sure if it is related to FSlabs but there are so many helpful people in here I figured to check to see if anyone has had this problem or any recommendations. Lately, every time I start P3D and load the bus (again, I don't think this is an FSlabs issue), in the background, my Explorer keeps opening new windows VERY quickly and I am not able to hit ALT and get my menu options. It will flash and then disappear. I can still manage to fly but it is rather annoying. The IE windows just keep opening new tabs and the only way to stop it is to hit X a bunch and close them out. However, eventually it will start happening again once I try to open different applications such as a Pilotedge client or Vatsim. Any ideas?

Hi guys,, Didn;t want to be the first, but the VAS usage is ridicolous. It's fine when I start but as the flight continues it drops and drops and drops, until finally crashes. P3d on all other aircraft stays constant as you depart and VAS recovers as you go to cruise. I am flying the EZY exe livery and wondered if that has anything to do with it and 1096 textures.

    Static AI

Are there any AI programs out there that only populate the AI at the gates or on the ground that doesn't have an impact on performance? I see a lot of folks in X-Plane and on P3D that fly online (like myself) but also land at populated airports. It would be nice to land and airports that aren't ghost towns. However, all of the AI traffic applications that I have seen actually have the AI planes flying and therefore would interfere with performance and with my flight plan/ATC. I have one airport (KPSP) from Orbx that comes with static aircraft but that is the only one I have seen. Thoughts?

    FPS loss with Spotlights

I have encountered a significant frames per second loss with Spotlights installed. I have installed the latest binaries,.193, with the latest Spotlights v32. I have noticed a very welcome drop in VAS usage with this version. in the VC at a payware airport, UK2000 EGSS, I am getting 30fps which is what my sim is set to. this is without Spotlights. With Spotlights installed the FPS drops to 20. Is this normal? This was also present in the previous version, binaries v193 & Spotlights v31. in the same situation with PMDG 777 the FPS is at 30. My P3D is the latest fully updated version. My rig is I7 4770 running at 4.1ghz, GTX1080 graphics card. I run a 4K monitor with resolution set to 30hz. In sim I run with sync and triple buffering on and frames set to unlimited. My P3D settings are fairly mid range. Please let me know if you need any more information. thanks John Fairman

Can someone tell me how to turn off the turbulence in my ezdok settings? I tried but didn't see anything that related to turbulence affect. Thanks

    Patch / update

Kind of a dumb question, but what is the most recent version of the A320 in P3d and where do I check to see what version I have installed? I thought I downloaded an update a while back but I'm not sure if it was the most recent and if its installed.

    Reverse Thrust Not Happening

So I have noticed something strange on occasion. After landing, my reverse thrust doesn't start. I have never had this happen with the IAE, and it only happens on 2 of my 3 CFM engine liveries. Virgin America works every time but Delta and American don't. I have my reverse set up on stick via the MCDU. The weird thing is that I wouldn't think this has anything to do with the livery so I am not sure why this doesn't go into affect with certain liveries. Is there anything that I should check to see where the issue could be?
  12. Hi, I am using the 2D panel view in P3D. At the moment I am trying to set up the viewpoint in order to have a correct "look an feel". Now, flying in 2D with zoom factor of 1,0 an having reset the viewpoint I can not see the ground when in level flight (at FL370 at the moment) I am experimenting with wide view true/false, I disabled EZCA and so on. I just want to know from other 2D-panel flyer what settings they use to match the "correct" viewpoint. So please tell me: wide view true or false, zoom factor and other settings How do you "save" them? BTW: how does the "custom defined" camera setting in P3D work? After restarting P3D all cameras are gone. Henni

    Cockpit Texture Settings

Quick question... If I remember correctly, there was an option to pic High, Medium, or Low (something along those lines) cockpit textures. I am not sure what I installed and I might want to change them for better performance or to have it look better. Is there a way of doing that without uninstalling and installing? I wasn't able to find it yesterday and I want to see how each of the textures run on my system.

    User Livery Download Error

I tried posting this in the Livery folder but it wouldn't let me post. I am getting a message saying I can't download user liveries and I get an error saying "1D161/3". What is this for? Do I not have access? Thanks
  15. Currently I use Navigraph for my charts on my iPad when I am flying. Is there something that would allow me to enter my flight plan and show it on an interactive map with weather? Or is Navigraph able to do this? I'd prefer to use my iPad but if there is something I can use on a PC that works too. I've seen it on YouTube but can't figure out what application it is. I can pull up charts, and maps on Navigraph, but not full flight route with my flightplan. Thanks!

    Ezdok 2 profiles

outside of the profiles in the forum, does anyone have any good profiles that they can share with me for P3d? Viewing the displays on my profile is a bit small and hard to read so I was hoping there might be some profiles out there that people like. Thanks

    TOPCAT/PFPX Question

I've seen on here that the TOPCAT and PFPX applications for the A320 only have info for the CFM engines. My question is, how much difference is there between IAE and CFM? Meaning, if I created a flight plan with PAX, Fuel, etc. in these applications for the CFM, but loaded the data to the IAE, would it be a huge issue? Seeing TOPCAT in use seemed pretty neat but I primarily fly the IAE. Thanks
  18. Hi, i am using latest p3d version, latest spotlight and a320x, spot light is not working in p3d, i had spent hours trying evrey fix in this fourm yet no soloution, i need support please. i have no reshade, no d3d11 in sim folder, tried clean reinstall as per faq, i tried removing ivao airplanes, removed fsuipc, no msi nahimic, i have latest dxgi and win 7 sp1. My addons are : ivap,fsuipc,fslaba32x,aerosoft a320. Regards, Feras
  19. Hi, Having now got close to 100 hours in the A320 am interested in knowing if this is possible. I want to set up the chance of a service based failure, so it has a low chance of happening but well might not. I don't want to set up a failure I know will happen at XXX Alt or XXX time. Is this possible?

    Fpa Vs hdg/trk

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for responding to my numerous posts and answering my questions. You all have been a great resource and it has made flying the bus so much fun! I really appreciate it. Truly a great community! My question for you all, can some explain or point me to the right direction of what fpa vs, hdg/trk does and when I should use it or what circumstances would require that? I have yet to try it since I wasn't too sure about its functionality. Thanks!!

    Landing practice

I was curious if there are any modes created by someone for specific scenarios such as landing, crosswind situations, engine out, etc. I recall years ago people would create scenarios (not specific to fslabs) that you could download and install. Then you can set it up and you would start at the beginning of the scenario. Is something like that out there? Or is that even possible? I think that would be cool and would allow someone to practice landings without having to do a flight, file a flight plan, etc.

    SpotLights Not Working

So yesterday I did what is wrotten in this website and after that my FSLSpotlight stoped working normally, I don't know why! But that makes me feel angry because I cann't have full light in A320X cockpit! What should I do?

    Lower ECAM stuck

I'm currently flying kord-ksan. After push and start, my lower ecam wont change from f/ctrl. No matter what I try to switch it do it will flash the other screen then stay in f/ctl. Has anyone ever had this? Any mid flight fixes?
  24. Are there recommended settings and sensitivity for CH pedals for my rudder control? I used the ones in the manual with my T.1600 stick, but wasn't sure if there were specific rudder pedal sensitivities that provides realistic feedback. I have the paid version of FSUIPC but am not 100% sure if that works in conjunction with the control settings within P3d or if I should turn those off. Thanks

    VAS and Performance tips!

Hello all, I'm a new customer to FlightSimLabs, and I'm not disappointed. I have use both the boxed versions of FSX, and FSX-SE, and am now running Prepar3D and trying not to look back. Over the years, and in conference with a friend of mine who is also an avid simmer, I have discovered some performance enhancing techniques for your sim. Some of these can be easily found on the internet, but here, I am going to focus on P3D, and without getting too specific as to my system settings. The reason being that P3D is more stable than FSX, and is delicate, but more fault-tolerant. I've got a LOT of stuff installed on it and I'm getting incredible performance, including with the A32X. Hyperthreading: If you use a processor, either Intel or AMD, and it's capable of running more than one thread per core, the best thing you can do is TURN IT OFF! You heard right. Hyperthreading or multithreading is great for running a bunch of desktop applications in a more harmonious manner, but we're talking about an engine that was developed for use with single-core processors. Do a test with the A320 at an addon airport with your sim "fully loaded" at a gate, then go into your BIOS and turn off hyperthreading, and try the EXACT same setup again, and you'll have to pick your jaw up off the floor with the memory you will save. Frame Limiter: I'm no hardware expert, but from what I understand of frame limiters, they work on the level of microscopic time and ultimately smooth out the performance that you are getting by doing the following. Frame limiters save the time of outputting frames they otherwise would have had they not been limited, and allocate those nanoseconds to doing other processes, ultimately smoothing your performance, and adding an element of scheduling to what your graphics card is doing. 30FPS is less than desirable in today's world, but a smooth 30FPS is very desirable in a flight simulator. There is NO good reason to use the frame limiter inside ANY of these sims. They do NOT work, so set them to "Unlimited." Use a graphics card utility such as the NVidia Control panel to set application specific frame limits. Use a frame rate that is right at, or half of your monitor's refresh rate. Mine's 60, so 60 or 30 would be applicable to me. Vertical sync should be on in the application to eliminate tearing (visible when viewing a whirling propeller). SLI/CrossfireX: I've got two video cards in my rig, and love the performance of having a second GPU doing some of the work. However, the application engine was developed before this technology came to be fruitful. Using SLI in P3D or FSX is basically a placebo effect. You will barely notice any effect in P3D, and it is also said that it can DECREASE performance in FSX. If you have an NVidia card, you can change the application specific setting "SLI Rendering Mode" to "Single GPU" Setting it this way also eliminates flickering of lights, smoke, and soft particles. It also helps in OBS if you're a streamer. Using SLI will cause OBS to render only half of your frames, so your broadcast will be choppy. If you're broadcasting at 30FPS, the app will run at 15 and look more like a slide show. Remember, SINGLE GPU! AffinityMast tweak: With regards to .CFG tweaks, less is more with P3D. With P3D and FSX-SE, use the double-slash "//" to comment out the affinitymask tweak. P3D and FSX-SE do a pretty good job of selecting the processors they want to run on, often you will get better performance NOT using the tweak. .CFG tweaks: Again, less is more. Try these: Under [GRAPHICS], set TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048. This is a reasonable compromise between full HD and looking like dog food. We'd all like to be able to fly in 4K, but not with these sims. Don't let any installers change that value when offered. Under [DISPLAY], TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULTI=40. Some guides have you set this higher, and to be honest, it has been my personal experience that the higher I set this, the more blurries I get. I always thought it increased a multiplier of some kind and therefore, texture throughput, but this is what helped me. YMMV. Under [MAIN], FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.33, this is the default value. Some guides recommend setting this to 0.01 to increase frame rate. What this does is allocate a portion of the process's thread time to rendering texture. If you want to get rid of blurries, keep this at 0.33. DO NOT SET IT TO ZERO. But, play with it, YMMV. I've found blurries the lower I set it, and found no value to setting it higher. Placebo? Under [TERRAIN], TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500, try reducing to 3000. TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS _PER_CELL=3000, try reducing to 2000. May save you some VAS, and you won't notice much difference. Sliders: The VAS killer is Level of Detail radius. P3D is good at exceeding what FSX can do with the slider. FSX Max right position was LOD=4.50, P3D is higher. The farther to the right you slide this, the more miserable your VAS usage will be. Keep it moderate. Mine is a 5.5, but comes down for graphics preset when flying the 'Bus. If you can't read taxiway markings: such as in ORBX sceneries that use photoreal technology, sliding this up to 15 or 7cm per pixel will help alleviate this, and won't cost much VAS. Autogen: Both of these sliders can save you a little bit if you knock them down. If you're flying a tube-liner then you won't be looking down at trees or buildings, you'll be busy managing the flight deck, only to get a quick glimpse out the window. You can turn them down to the midpoint to save some overhead. Scenery Complexity: A note about this; you can turn it down to save some overhead, but if you're missing buildings or jetways at some airports, turning this up might help restore them. Finally, just remember these last few things with regard to scenery. Like anyone that innovates, publishers try different things to be fhe first to bring something new to the market. Sometimes they fail. There are different sceneries from the same publisher that are sluggers when it comes to memory, performance, or both. Some have hotfixes or updates, and some don't acknowledge there's even a problem. Some refine their product, and some ask you to make concessions in other areas. Personally, I'm still trying to work out how people can fly into JFK at a VATSIM event. I have to offer a ritual sacrifice to the OOM gods to get into New York, in any airplane. Hope this helps, and happy landings.
