  1. Hi everyone, After our pre-release note on September 6th, I am very happy to now announce that our FSLabs Control Center, our new utility which allows easier management of our product family and simplifies tasks such as installation and uninstallation of FSL aircraft, liveries, airline packs and utilities (e.g. FSL Spotlights), is now available for download to all our customers! Its primary aim is to allow for a one-stop update facility for our product line and improve the customer experience by providing micro-updates and rollbacks without the need for individual installers or long downloads, allowing our customers to update their entire product line with a few simple clicks. Multiple simulation platforms are supported and a search facility for official liveries is provided to allow for a quick selection and installation of your favorite airline colors. It features an 'Update All' simple, one-click update function which allows streamlined downloading of any new available updates for all the customer-installed products, rather than having to download individual installers each time we update our product line. There is also a bulk uninstall feature which allows the customer to uninstall all products at once, so that license keys are once again deactivated and ready for future use in preparation of hardware changes or replacements with no need to contact support to request license reactivation. Apart from the stable public release channel, a provision is made for an "experimental" channel as well, whereby the customer can, at their option, choose to be part of our upcoming open testing channel, whenever available. Last, but not least, the opportunity to enter optional items such as your Hoppie ACARS logon and Simbrief username is available through FSL Control Center, as well. As you make your way through FSLabs Control Center, we would love to have your feedback in the newly added FSL Control Center forum - go through the FAQs and User Guide you will find there and feel free to let us know your first impressions as well as any issues you might find. As always, we thank you for your continued support!

  3. It’s been 3 years since I flew a real 320 and my company (now defunct) transferred me to the dark side to fly that other popular single-aisle machine. As an avid simmer, recently I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Tiller by Cat3Design to use with the FSLabs A3XXX fleet. My very first thought was, “Wow - this has just transformed my taxying experience!” It was immediately recognisable in feel and response, and does a superb job of simulating the real-world A320 tiller. It may be a little smaller and a little lighter, but after having flown the real aircraft for 7 1/2 years I can say that this tiller feels very authentic and fits under my fingertips perfectly. It could be argued that one’s sensibilities might have been dulled after several years of trucking around in a used 737, but this felt so natural from the first use that I began to wonder why I had put up with anything else in 28 years of simming, especially in the past 7 years of FSLabbing. It easily reminds me of the plane I used to fly, and nothing about it makes me think, “Oh, he should change this or that…” There are plenty of photos and reviews about other aspects of the package so I won’t repeat those efforts here, but I will say that as a real world A320 pilot I give this product my full endorsement. One question I had was where to put it. I have found that it is sized very well for the desktop environment and isn’t as bulky as I thought it would be. The cable is plenty long enough to allow the unit to be moved around easily as necessary. Cat3Design is committed to providing excellent customer service and I can personally attest to this manufacturer’s credibility and integrity as well.

  4. Well, doesn't look like FSLabs is going to neglect the MSFS.

  5. There are many curved models at 38" 21:9, such as the one I use, and if you need them cheaper there are also models without G-Sync and 60Hz only. Unless you need 2160p, in which case I'd agree there's nothing worthwhile between 32 and 40 inches.

  6. Agreed. If one buys a 16:9 screen big enough as to make sense being curved (wide enough), then that screen will be like at least 40" in diameter, resulting in a LOT of unused screen estate at the top quarter of the screen. So that part of the screen is then not necessary, meaning it should be somewhere else, which means ultra-wide. HOWEVER Not everything ultra-wide is automatically good for flight simulation. Any screen ratio larger than 21:9 is only useful if the vertical dimension is high enough. What good is an extra extra wide screen if you don't have enough vertical space for seeing your instruments while looking outside straight ahead. And even at 21:9 I think 1440p is not a future-proof investment anymore. But if you can afford, large ultra-wide with high resolution and enough vertical space with a nice curve is absolutely brilliant for flying. It's going to break the bank, but what can you do

  7. I am using Benq 32" 4k (flat monitor) today and pretty happy with it. I was using 34" ultrawide curved (3440 x 1440) before. I think that if you are not going to get ultrawide monitor , there shouldn't be much difference between flat and curved monitor.

  8. Stu, As far as I’m aware there aren’t any 32” 4K curved monitors, just flat ones. I can recommend my BenQ PD3200U which supports 30Hz natively. The choice is entirely subjective. What suits one won’t suit another.

  9. Very nice! I found a similar one from Philips for a reasonable price. Never thought about a 40“ before but I like the idea! Okay guys, if my wife asks, my company is providing new home office equipment as part of the new „flexible workplace initiative“ and my line of work dictates a screen of at least 40 inch. („sorry honey, new health standards“)

  11. @Holger Teutsch I measured the distance and it's about 13cm which you are correct in thinking doesn't feel the most ergonomic. Fine control is quite difficult without the ability to rest your arm on something. That's an interesting adaptor. I looked at the plug in the base (see photo), there are two screws which can be removed allowing the plug to rotate however there are no addition threaded bores to secure it so I don't think that's and option. I also looked at the connector on the side stick and while there are removable screws (see photos in my earlier post) which I removed and could feel a bit of play, it didn't rotate easily. I didn't want to force it and risk damaging any internal solder joints or wiring. I'd recommend contacting them to ask if it can be rotated 90 degrees when they produce it as they were pretty responsive via facebook chat when I reached out to order one. I also note from a YouTube channel that there is another manufacturer doing side sticks (for different chinese manufactured bases) - https://www.facebook.com/winwing.cn/ The advantage I can see here is the option to have a hat switch built into the sidestick.

  12. Curved monitors are fantastic for flight simulation purposes. The bigger the screen is, the more use you get from it being curved, as it wraps around your peripheral vision. However, you need to make sure that your seating position is such that your head is placed at the centre of the circle that defines the curvature. If you sit too far away, then the effect is lost. So when buying a curved screen, one needs to make sure that placing/mounting it close enough is possible.

  13. It's a subjective decision. I have a 49" super ultra wide, which is curved. Couldn't imagine going back to a flat screen.

  15. Now that Control Center is released we get to take the sharks out on tour. Earlier @Duncan MacKellar and I flew up to KEF and now its time to return to Heathrow.

  17. You know full well that we developed much more than "just an EFB" in that time frame. Please stick to the facts.
